Vote

This year, the elections have been quite a hot button topic of conversation.
And let me tell you - discussing it is just not a good idea.

My sister always told me - religion, politics and sex are topics you just shouldn't discuss.

Well, in an ideal world, we could all just agree to disagree.
But since that's not the way the world is, everyone pretty much just disagrees.

I know this year my friends and I are not voting for the same political party.
I think they're crazy and they probably think I am.

My decision is based on facts.
And more facts.

But to each his own.

Today is the day.
So don't sleep in because it's a holiday.
Get out and vote.

To conclude : Whoever wins this election, may the outcome be good.
To seriously conclude : Whoever I'm voting for - May the odds be ever in your favour.

Caution: Cuteness Overload

I am not one of those women who can't stop gushing about the cuteness of a baby.
But seeing this turned me into one of them.

If you're ever having a really crappy day and desperately need to turn that frown into a smile, this is what you need to look at.

Photographer Grace Chon photographed her cute as a cotton ball baby, Jasper and her dog Zoey in many coordinated costumes giving us an amazing photo series that will make you want to reach into your computer and give them all a nice big hug.

And if you think there's nothing cuter than Asian babies, check out former Masterchef winner Adam Liaw's instagram feed. He had dressed his baby up as Pharell, Matt Preston, Salvador Dali and even compared him to a pineapple.
Which is why it's almost upsetting when this chef posts photos of food.

Same same. But different.

by Marion Fayolle

A friend of mine sent me this article with amazingly funny drawings by Marion Fayolle.
What's great about it is how provocative and absurd it is at the same time.
The surreal but easily understandable illustrations just bring a smile to your face.

by Horyon Lee

And then while browsing I came across this article with oil paintings by Horyon Lee.
The motion shown in these paintings flirt a little with your mind.
Who knew paintings could be so seductive and beautiful?

Both of these pieces of art are so suggestive.
Same same. But different.

Magic

One of my all-time favourite bands, Coldplay just released their new single, Magic.

And if you were to ask me
After all that we've been through
Still believe in magic
Oh yes I do
Oh yes I do
Yes I do
Oh yes I do
Of course I do

Tangent: Did you notice the woman in the video is Sayuri from Memoirs of a Geisha.

Milktape

Remember when people made mixtapes?

When I was a child, my cousin would make mixtapes for me.
And he wouldn't bother to write the names of the songs on the back.
So my sister and I would play every song and guess the titles.
And how did we do that?
By listening to a song over and over again and writing whatever words we heard the most number of times.
And you'd be surprised - more than half our mixtape had the right song titles.
How brilliant were we?

After a point we graduated to making mixes on CDs.
I have a collection of CDs made by me and gifted by my exs.
And they were the best.

You could tell so much about a person from the kind of mix they made.

And now with everything on your iPod or even just a USB, mixtapes and even CDs have become a thing of the past.
Is it time to put it in the Vintage category already?

Kids these days don't know what a tape is.
And I love not explaining it to them and just keeping them guessing.
I'm a mean jellybean sometimes.

But how cool is this?

It's called Milktape.

It's Mac and PC compatible
128 MB (holds 15 songs average) because everything should be handpicked
You can drag and drop from any folder or iTunes
Personalize each tape. Write on the blank cover and stickers
$21 with shipping

Play with your food

Did you know that the human brain is wired in such a way that it can recognize faces?
This is why we see faces in everything - clouds, a puddle, floor tiles or even the pattern in your upholstery.

But tell me something - am I crazy or do these fried eggs look like a skull?

And does this chapati look like a heart?

Ok so that was deliberate.

As was this.

Write on a Banana with a toothpick
Since bananas don't speak.

21st Century Meet Cute

I've been single for a while now.
But I'm not exactly ready to mingle either.

Atleast not in the 21st century way - on an App.

by Gemma Correll
I read about Tinder the other day.
It's a Dating App for everyone.
The ones who use iOS and even the others [Android users].

So how does it work?
Well, you login with your Facebook ID [I don't trust this login procedure] and it takes all your info [friends, likes, groups etc] and finds you a match.
This match could even be a friend of a friend on Facebook.
And it finds people within a certain radius from you [I think].

You can choose the age group you'd like.
And then have fun liking and rejecting people.
It's almost like a game.

And then you can chat with whoever you like on the App itself.
It seems to have really worked well in Europe and people have claimed to have met their soulmates through Tinder.

Seeing if this could be true, a friend of mine downloaded the App just out of curiosity.
Observation: All the guys are so eager to connect on Whatsapp / meet.
Reaction: What's the hurry?

Well, we figured that guys are looking at this App as nothing more than an easy way to hookup.
As for everything else there's Shaadi.com

Say hello to Tangerine Arts Studio

There's one more reason to love Bandra.
Tangerine Arts Studio, has opened it's doors and is calling everyone over.

Tangerine is a studio space that holds classes ranging from Yoga, Zumba, Muay Thai, Belly dance, Contemporary and Bollywood dance daily from Monday to Saturday.
But it doesn't end just there.
Every weekend one can also attend different fun workshops like different forms of dance and even hula hooping.

Founder Tanvi Mehra, is not only my yoga teacher but also a very dear friend.

From the very first time I entered this studio I fell in love with it.
It is a beautiful space with a warm wood floor and big windows on one side that draw all the sunlight in. And all around the studio one can see frames and other decorative elements put together by Rabanne Jamsandekar. Two of the walls are blanketed with floor to ceiling mirrors (perfect for dance rehearsals) and Tanvi was kind enough to give me the third wall to decorate with chalk art.

Creating the chalk art while my patient sister took photos for my stop motion video.

The studio just has such good energy. It draws you in.

Last weekend was the official launch of Tangerine Arts Studio at what was called the Big Juicy Weekend.
It began on Friday with a wonderful party hosted by Tanvi at the studio followed by 2 days of free classes in yoga, belly dance, contemporary, tap, salsa, hula hoop and much much more.

At the launch of Tangerine Arts Studio
The studio conducts classes daily from 7.30 am to 8.30 pm.
For anyone who wants to get fit or learn something new while having a good time, this is the place to go.
