Yoga Station Retreat

A couple of months ago I started learning Ashtanga Yoga at Yoga Station from my friend, Tanvi Mehra who not only happens to be an amazing yoga teacher and dancer but also someone with such a big heart. When you meet her, you just want to give her a hug.

Her classes are sometimes hard but at the same time so relaxing.
I go for her evening class and I get some amazing sleep after it.

Over the last weekend I went for a Yoga retreat with my entire class to Tanvi's beautiful house in Badlapur.
The weather was lovely. It was raining and we were surrounded by every shade of green that exists.

We went for a walk, through the stream to the hills.
And we had cows for company.
The beauty was surreal.

Once we got to the hill, it started raining.
But that didn't stop us.
We did yoga in the rain and it was amazing.

And my sister did a cartwheel.

We came back to a huge spread that was put together by all the students.
Everyone brought with them healthy versions of tasty food.
And obviously there was cake too.

A day so well spent!

Update: Yoga Station classes are now at Tangerine Arts Studio in Bandra.

Happy Birthday Sliced Bread

Dear Sliced Bread,

Thank you for always comforting me.
Making me smile.
And sprinkling yourself with grains.
You beauty!

Edam, Nutella and the rest of the gang were talking about you.
And how your hugs make them feel so loved.
They even have a special name for them.
They call them sandwiches.

Sorry about our temporary breakup in 2003.
I don't know what I was thinking back then.
Maybe I just needed some space.

I'm just so glad you're back in my life.

Happy Birthday.

I Love you.

And don't worry about the competition.
When people say you're the greatest thing since sliced bread, I just don't know what they're talking about.

Things you ought to know

via Explore

I came across Debbie Millman's list of 10 things she wish knew sooner than later about failing.

I keep reading it every now and then as a constant reminder of what to expect... in life.

Because it's good to be prepared.

You can listen to her interviewing designers, artists, leaders and other interesting people here.
I recently bought Look Both Ways - Illustrated Essays on the Intersection of Life & Design [Kindle Edition] on my phone.
And then I also bought this.
Because why buy one book when you can buy two?

[Kindle Editions may not be ideal for such books but it's good enough when it's not available on Flipkart.]

Calm

Adrift from Simon Christen on Vimeo.

When I look up at the sky
I feel a sense of calm

Watching the clouds move
Flow like the calmest sea
Wipe away the sunset
And make way for the stars to shine

So we can watch that sparkle in the sky
And dream

And if we can't

The clouds will flow again
Wipe the slate clean

And always give us hope
For a better tomorrow.
